There Are Definite Challenges to Being the Father of All Girls
“Next Sunday is Father’s Day, girls. That’s a day when we tell Daddy how much we love him and how special he is. ”
“Father’s Day?”
“Yes. You could paint him a picture or you could pick out a card for him.”
“I want to give him a Cinderella card!”
“Um, honey, are you sure Daddy would like a Cinderella card?”
“YESSS!”

Next Sunday?! NEXT SUNDAY?!!
Yikes…

The thing is, he will.
Your new header is awesome.

My oldest son thinks that a gigantic bag of Cheetos is the perfect gift. For any occasion.

Yeah, my son wants to give Daddy a Transformer. He was quite put out when I wouldn’t buy one.

I like the new header.
I already told husband that I have no clue what to get him for Father’s Day, because everything he wants is either too big, he buys for himself already, or is something I wouldn’t condone buying (video games). Sigh…I guess I could start the useless tie tradition now, since he’s worn a tie all of 3 times or so since we got married…

My boys gave homemade cards to me on Mother’s Day featuring Mario and Luigi. I have cards from the past with Darth Vader, Yoda, and Spongebob—all wishing me happy birthdays, merry Christmases, and wonderful Mother’s Days.
Who knew Darth was such a sweetie pie?

Now that’s funny! The Tongginator wants to give her daddy a movie. I thought that was a great idea, since he loves movies — and then she told me what movie: “Hello Kitty Becomes a Princess.” Someone help me out … is that even a movie? And, if so, where did the Tongginator hear about it?

JulieC,
My husband would also consider a giant bag of cheetos the perfect gift for any occasion. And since he reads my blog, I think I’d better buy him one for Father’s Day now.
andrea_jennine
Well, honestly, who wouldn’t like a Cinderella card?

Doesn’t every daddy want a princess card for Father’s Day?? In our house, it will be a Hello Kitty card that daddy will be receiving…..

In trying to figure out what to get Mr. Right, they decided to workout with him. No money out of pocket and they get daddy time.
I love my kids. Now I’ll have some reading time in peace while Mr. Right has memory time with the kids. It’s like a Mother’s Day/Father’s Day gift all wrapped up in one!

Off subject, but what new header? I see nothing new on my end????
All of the comments had me laughing. My husband would love a transformer, a bag of Cheetos and a Darth Vader card. In fact, I have several “love notes” from him featuring Darth.
We have only girls so far also, but the oldest is getting him a Dad shirt and the two little ones are too little. I’m getting him a grilling cookbook that he requested. No Cinderella cards yet!

For Mother’s Day, I got a fishing card from my kids. I hate fishing. So I say, “GO for it!” on the Cinderella card.

He will…he will love it! I’m glad she thinks so!

Ah, the Daddy-daughter dichotomy. Fun, isn’t it? My sweet husband has already worn pink fairy wings and tiaras and drunk more cups of “tea” out of tiny purple-flowered china cups than I’m sure he ever thought he would in his life. Our oldest is not yet 4 and I just had our third girl, so the fun looks like it will continue for years to come.
And this is a guy who told me before we were married that his ideal family would be four boys. Funny how we can adapt (and thrive!) with things we never pictured for our lives, isn’t it?

My hubs read the post and said, “oh, he will totally like a cinderella card.” Course, we just have the one boy right now so he isn’t in any danger of getting anything princess-themed any time soon.
Jill
Mydaugher told me she thought it was really unfair that he was getting a special day all to himself and when was she getting a day that was all about her. Um…everyday?
Kelly @ Love Well
But that’s what makes Mother’s Day/Father’s Day so fun. You get to see yourself through your kids eyes.
Maybe you should get Az some glass slippers, to complete the picture. Might as well go big.

That’s okay. I got a light saber made out of construction paper for Mother’s Day from my son. It isn’t something I would have picked out for myself, but I have to admit, it does come in handy when the occasional Sith Lord shows up.
Don’t underestimate Cinderella.
