Renovated Dreams

Az the Husband was sitting in the glider in our room, while our three little banshees raced and whooped around him, clad only in diapers or underpants. The baby was snuggling in his lap, and the two older girls were playing some complicated kind of tag-fairytale-calvinball.

“When I was sixteen, I imagined living in a house full of naked females,” Az the Husband mused. “It hasn’t turned out the way I hoped.”

    Nothing brings maturity like fatherhood.

Poor Az…. teenage dreams and reality don’t always quite match up.

    Ha ha!

And yet, I’ll bet he never imagined that being surrounded by his own adoring scantily clad girls could be such an improvement over what he originally imagined.

    Gotta love that Az.

My kids have some version of calvinball, too - they call it by our own family name, which I won’t share here because I’m so very CAREFUL and all that, although I’m sure a stalker could find me in a nanosecond if he wanted. Because really I’m NOT that careful.

It’s funny how the kids can remember their own crazy rules for calvinball, isn’t it? Or do they just make it up as they go? Who knows. I’m just every so happy when they are BUSY. Elsewhere. Together.

heeheehee! I love what you have shared about Az’s sense of humor. My husband and I share the same oddball sense of humor, too, and it’s very hard to stifle at inappropriate times.

Incidentally, my boys have found the stash of Calvin & Hobbes and I’m thinking maybe I should hide it again. They’re quoting things, and I’m afraid there might be results of a Mom’s Approval Rating Poll soon.

I don’t think we have such great comic timing as you.

The Belgian Wonder has found himself in similar circumstances….with a similar conclusion.
