Real Life Friends with Blogs

My friend Stacie and I have known each other fifteen years now (insert requisite age acknowledgment here). She has been living and working in Russia ever since college, and recently had the exciting opportunity to take a group of Russian Christians on a mission trip to Greece. They worked with the refugee community there and with women who have been forced into prostitution. You can read more about her trip on her blog Sojourner.

My friend Matthew Litteken is that rare combination of artist and all-around decent guy (seriously, how many artists can you name who are normal, enjoyable people to have a beer with?). He has a blog up to display his art. It’s worth a stop. He has a Blogger site, and, for those of you brave enough to face the wilds of MySpace, he has a site there, too (with a lovely soundtrack).

And here is my friend Russell at The Eagle and Child, with his musings on theology, culture and the latest book he’s been reading. He’s a good guy; even Az the Growly thinks so.

Thanks for the blog recommends. I checked out The Eagle and The Child. I’m excited to take more time and read more about the Crunchy Cons book. It is so funny because I didn’t know the word crunchy was being used for the environmentally friendly description. Recently I’ve been seeing it a lot. How did I not know that? I feel like I must have my head in the sand!

P.S. I’ve been thinking a lot about your in-laws and it has really made me feel sad on your behalf. I think you have a great handle on it and everything, I just wanted to let you know that it has stuck with me for some reason. It will be nice when the next spudlet (my husband’s pet term) comes along and they warm up to the little bundle of joy.

OK, do you know how long I’ve been looking for the Toddled Dredge blog — I’ve tried googling it for quite some time, and just never found it — thanks for the link to the Eagle and child (it’s what finally led me here) — you have wonderful stuff — your writing is just so blooming elegant.

Looking forward to catching up sometime offline

And congrats on Baby makes three — I rejoice with you and Az the Growly.

Our church has missionaries in many foreign countries and I have the pleasure of furnishing our homes for their sabbatical year. One couple is in Argentina and I am babysitting for their Steinway Grand piano, while they are away for three years. The wife was a professor at a theological school in the music department. The first term they were gone, I had no idea how valuable the piano was, but now it is insured for almost $50,000. Scares me to think I have something that valuable in my home! Our daughter went to Russia this summer to teach conversational English for our missionaries there. The youngest one has been to Russia, Macedonia and Serbia doing videography for our denomination. God is using them in the ways they are gifted to serve Him.
