Az the Unconcerned

May 5th, 2008 · 5 Comments

I just pointed out to Az the Husband that almost everyone was against him on the butter issue.  He looked at me haughtily and said, “Athanasius contra mundum.”

According to him, when you are right, you don’t need people to agree with you.

Well, tell Az aut Caesar aut nihil. And by “Caesar” I mean “deliciously soft, spreadable butter.”

(When your one semester of Latin is this rusty, you have limited rebuttals.)

There is one person with him on this, if slightly less fanatical - my husband.

I left the butter out on purpose this morning so that it would soften enough to bake fairy cakes to take to my son’s class later. When I returned it was being restored to its pristine state of hardness in the fridge and my husband was totally unrepentant. Could it be a man thing?

I would respect him more if he could say that in Esperanto.

My husband is sort of with yours on this issue. He freaks if I leave anything out for any length of time. If my husband wants soft butter for his bread, he warms the bread and lets the pat of butter sit for a bit to melt. But my impression from reading your post is that your husband simply likes his butter cold.
