Assortment
- TV shows I am watching this month: Life, Chuck, My Name Is Earl, The Office, Bones, Battlestar Galactica, 30 Rock. TV shows I watch but won’t publicly admit to liking: Psych, Sanctuary (Sanctuary is so bad it’s enjoyable). TV show for which I’m waiting for new episodes: Burn Notice, Eureka. TV shows they canceled too soon and in a perfect world someone would revive: Raines, Dresden Files, Firefly, Titus. And as long as we’re talking perfect world, Phil Hartman would still be alive and acting.
- Fellow recovering Tetris addicts? Do not click this link.
- Today I baked a cake from my eggless cookbook because, obviously, I was out of eggs. This cookbook in my head is called Second Rate Baking - With Pretension! The author wrote these recipes after one of her children became deathly allergic to eggs. Good reason to create your own recipes, but then she brags about how wonderful this or that recipe is and how it will make you renounce the eggy version forever. This has never happened. Not once. Instead I bake her stuff and think, Meh. So if you’re in the mood for poundcake that crumbles the moment you slice it, come on over.
- My 18-month-old really wants to be potty-trained, so we are working on it. My three-year-old, however, refuses to use the potty. This is a confusing family.

I’ll come over with the best apple crisp ever to save you from the poundcake.
Kelley
The poundcake sounds interesting. I guess. Hey you didn’t have eggs!
Thanks for the Tetris link.

There is NOTHING wrong with good ol’ Psych or Eureka fix! Those are two of my favorite shows on…right after just about anything with Alton Brown in it. (yeah…food geek in da house! waddup?)

This proves I have no self-control, whatsoever. I clicked the Tetris link. I am doomed.

I LOVE CHUCK. Zachary Levi rocks my world, and my husband is well aware. Seriously cute show. I like Psych and will admit it to the WORLD. (Or, at least to the people who read your blog. :>)

You can substitute soy flour for eggs in practically any recipe, no special cookbooks required. 1 heaping tablespoon soy flour plus 1 or 2 tablespoons water and you’re good to go. Plus soy flour keeps indefinitely. I always have it on hand, and I use it any time I’m out of eggs. I learned about this in the Tightwad Gazette.

I am trying very, very hard not to click on that link because if anything remotely resembling Tetris lands on my desktop all productivity will go right out the window.
Cyndi
I LOVE the Office, LOVE Psych and LOVE Burn Notice! I am going to try to finish reading my blogs before clicking on that Tetris link. I don’t think I can resist…

Secret Psyche fan here, too…

Second Rate Baking — Hey, that’s the name of MY personal collection of recipes. (No, actually, the recipes are fine, and so is my baking. It’s my cooking that really puts the eh in meh.)
The Diaper Diaries
I am dead seriously sitting here trying desperately not to touch that Tetris link. The addiction was so bad I couldn’t sleep at night cause when I closed my eyes I would imagine pieces fitting together. So, so sad. Please pray for strength.

Whew. Narrow escape. I clicked it, and then closed it again. Dh is sitting next to me on the couch and would have slammed the laptop shut on my hands to stop me if he saw me d/l it. He’s always there for me that way.
LOOOOOOVE Chuck. And major dittoes on Firefly. It’s your taste in entertainment that keeps me coming back for more.

Firefly! Firefly! Firefly!
I’m glad they made the movie…but still. Firefly was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Are you going to watch Dollhouse in January? It’s the new Joss Whedon. I want to, but will have to wait…my husband is in the Army and we’re currently stationed in Germany, so we get tv shows a bit later than everyone else.
As for potty training, I have a 16 month old boy, and I’m quite terrified of potty training. I’m sure it will be fine, but since I’ve never done it before, and my husband is in Iraq… Anyway, I’m going to buy a little potty soon, just so he’s used to seeing it, and we’ll see how it goes. He’ll let me know when he’s ready…right???
Shannon
You are right. The writing in Firefly was just fantastic and I am still sad that they didn’t make more. Apparently when it was first aired the network aired the episodes in the wrong order and on changing days of the week or something, which obviously interferes with developing a steady fan base. So that is really disappointing!
I use eggs in my baking all the time, but I have just started trying substituting ground flax seed for eggs to try and make some of the foods I make a bit healthier. It’s 1 tablespoon ground flax and 3 tablespoons water for each egg. I’ve really only tried it in muffins but they turned out just fine - no noticeable difference between the normal muffins. So I am curious how it would work in cake or cookies or something like that.

I’m going to take a pass on asking you for the name of the cookbook.
Courtney
I love the show Raines!!!
Coralie
Funny, I proudly proclaim my love of both Sanctuary and Psych, but am too embarrassed to admit I love Earl.
jean
I agree, they should have kept Dresden Files, I loved it. Yet I didn’t like the book, go figure. Now I’m watching CSI, NCIS, Chuck, Sanctuary and Life. Actually, I’ll watch anything as long as it isn’t a reality show. Let me know if I’m missing anything else.

Psych. Woot!

I actually have a splendid eggless, dairyless chocolate cake recipe, but so does the rest of the world. It’s not the best cake ever but it’s a fine cake when you want to eat some cake for breakfast or something, hypothetically speaking.
We watch the same shows! With the exception, of corse, of the Sci-fi offerings. Sci-fi and I shall never meet.
marmee
We watch the Office, Monk, Psych, 24 when it’s on, and Lost. But I am really replying to BSG and Firefly. Who knew that such obscure shows could be so well done! Now, I don’t shun the whole science fiction genre like I used to. We would have NEVER given them a chance had it not been for a recommendation of a friend. Yeah, too bad that there wasn’t more Firefly. And the last season of BSG??! GASP!! Say it isn’t so! Do you and your husband have a running commentary about people in your lives who COULD be Cylons like we do? Or try it with perfect strangers at the airport or supermarket. Tons of fun!
Kelly @ Love Well
I also find it oddly difficult to turn away from Sanctuary. It’s the disappearing English accent that pulls me in. It appears — then goes away. Then appears for a full episode. Then — poof. What gives? Is it a clue to some later show? Or is it just bad editing?
chaotic joy
Ah, Battlestar Galactica. I love it and get much, much ribbing from immediate and extended family because of it. It’s about to be over. Also wish they would revive Firefly. I’m actually surprised they haven’t since it seems to have a much larger following on DVD.
